Plan & billing
Thoughtstead is a hosted subscription: $20 per month, billed in advance, covering one individual account. This page is the plain-English summary — the Terms are the actual agreement.
What the subscription covers
- The whole product — capture on Mac, web, and phone; semantic search and chat over everything; invoices, clients, vendors, and contracts; meetings, people, and decisions; health, home and auto upkeep, and warranties; Gmail and Calendar sync; the MCP server; imports; and the agent queue.
- Every context you need — a second company, a side project, a household. Contexts are not seats and are not billed separately.
- AI usage. No API key to obtain, no per-token bill, no markup.
- Hosting, backups, and updates. New releases reach you as they ship; there is no version to upgrade and nothing to redeploy.

Cancelling
Cancel whenever you like. Your subscription runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and then stops; you are not billed again.
Export first — or after. Your full export stays available while you cancel, and it includes everything, from every context: thoughts, contacts, decisions, invoices, and documents, in formats you can actually read. We keep it free precisely so that leaving is cheap.
Price changes
If the price ever changes, we will tell you before it affects you. You can cancel instead of accepting it.
Teams
Individual accounts are what ship first. Shared workspaces with roles and seats come later. If you need that now, email support@bfl.design and tell us what you need — it genuinely helps us prioritise.
